The problems of continued cycles of conflicts, diseases such as HIV/Aids, STI’s, environmental degradation, drug abuse, early pregnancies, poor relationships between children and parents, teachers and guardians, employer and employees continue to pre-occupy the minds of many despite achievements in other areas of life like science and technology. SZMET has invested in building psychosocial skills in children and young adults through workshops, field based training and exchange visits. It has also participated in development of life skills materials for teachers as well as training them. It is through the above mentioned activities that SZMET has directly been involved in promoting peace initiatives, capacity building of teachers and patrons of various youth groups through sports and innovations and also organizing peace rallies. She is also an active member of the National Steering Committee on Peace Education.
